New digital substation in South Iceland
August 16, 2022
RST Net has completed the installation of a new substation in Lækjartún and this has been handed over to Landsnet.
RST Net delivered a new digital substation to Landsnet in Lækjartún in South Iceland, which is the fourth digital substation installed by RST Net. The new substation is ready for voltage setting and is planned to be transformed in the coming days.
The new substation is a covered 220/132 kV – 66 kV digital substation east of Þjórsá river that establishes a connection between the 220 kV grid and the 66 kV area network, thereby strengthening the transmission system in South Iceland considerably.
RST Net was responsible for the design, supply and installation of all high voltage equipment as well as control and protection equipment and DC systems. The high voltage switchgear is from ABB, as in the substations at Hnappavallar and Skagafjörður.
RST Net congratulates Landsnet, as well as the people of South Iceland, on its new and impressive substation.
