A new milestone, RST is now a certified service partner of MR Reinhausen

100 years ago, MR Reinhausen began manufacturing On Load Tap Changers (On Load Tap Changers) according to Dr. Jansen's patent. On June 20, a 100th anniversary celebration was held in Berlin to mark this occasion, where MR and RST Net signed an agreement whereby RST becomes a certified service partner of MR Reinhausen.

This agreement is a great recognition for RST Net, as MR is a leading company in the energy industry and today all the leading power transformer manufacturers in the world use MR tap changers. The agreement makes RST Net a certified service provider, with employees who can perform tap changer audits anywhere in the world.

In the 1920s, power companies were calling for a way to control voltage more quickly. The challenge was to find a way to change the turns ratio of a power transformer under load. Dr. Jansen had the idea and Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen (MR) had the skills to implement it. The result was the world's first prototype of a fast tap changer (On load tap changer) in 1926.

MR continues to be at the forefront of innovation in the energy sector and now introduces ETOS® – the first open standard for digital transformer operation.

The transformer fleet is aging and requires smart fleet management of this critical infrastructure asset, and the changing mix of power generation is making power system operations more complex. What can we do about it? The solution is to use smart equipment. With ETOS® – the embedded transformer control system – MR offers an open, modular system solution for monitoring, controlling, tuning and digitizing transformers. This is the world’s first open control system for smart transformers.

The overall concept, consisting of sensors, control, regulation and monitoring devices, as well as overall fleet management, enables the transformer to be controlled and monitored in a smart way.

In Iceland, RST Net will represent MR in ETOS solutions with specially trained employees to service the transformer fleet in the country.
