Landsvirkjun acquires 16 fast charging stations

31 October 2023

Sigmundur Jónsson Managing Director of RST Net and Georg Thor Pálsson Station Manager of Landsvirkjun in the Þjórsá river area.

RST Net has delivered 16 fast charging stations to Landsvirkjun that will be installed at all Landsvirkjun's power stations around Iceland. The equipment comes from the Finnish manufacturer Kempower and each station is between 50-350 kW. The combined capacity of all stations is 1,850 kW. Expansion options exist in most cases, for example power cabinets can be increased from 50 kW to 200 kW and the number of outlets increased.

The installation of the stations is in the hands of Landsvirkjun's employees and this work has begun, and installation is expected to be completed next summer. The increase in the number of charging stations is a part of Landsvirkjun's energy transition plan, which intends to stop buying fossil fuels by 2030. The acquisition is carried out in accordance with an auction held earlier this year in which RST Net became the shareholder. The charging stations are only intended for Landsvirkjun employees and contractors working for Landsvirkjun and are therefore closed to the public.

RST Net is a sales and service provider for Kempower equipment in Iceland. We offer a comprehensive service when it comes to the preparation, installation and operation of fast charging stations.

We congratulate Landsvirkjun on the charging stations and thank you for your business. We look forward to charging our cars when our employees are working at Landsvirkjun's power stations.
