Work on new substation started in Hrútafjörður

August 11, 2022

RST Net will install control and defence equipment together with a DC system in Landsnet's new substation at Hrútatunga.

Landsnet has signed an agreement with RST Net for the installation of equipment for a new substation at Hrútatunga at the bottom of Hrútafjörður. The fort will be covered and located on the same site as the old substation is now.

The old fort is over a 40-year-old outdoor structure that was badly affected by the storm that swept across the country in December 2019. The new substation will be covered and gas insulated.

The role of RST Net is to install new control and protection equipment as well as a 110V DC system for the new 132 (145) kV digital substation.

On Landsnet's Facebook page there is a video showing what the substation will look like when the substation is completed, see here.
